MINNEAPOLIS - Sunday wasn't just the Vikings' home opener, it was the final home opener at the Metrodome.
"We will cherish every game here this year," said Gary Etter from Eden Prairie. "Every home game will mean something."
"The Dome" opened in 1982 and replaced Metropolitan Stadium, but come November work will begin on a new "People's Stadium" on the same site as the Metrodome.
Is it a little emotional?
"Yes and no," said a fan. "I think most people are excited to have a new stadium."
The Minnesota Sports Facilities Commission is still working on a formal process for allowing fans to have a "piece" of the Metrodome.
