NEW HOPE, Minn. - Two men face charges in connection to the murder of a man who was found in parked car in New Hope on June 26.
The New Hope Police Department said that the body of Kent Walker, 59, was found in a car parked in a lot on the 7600 block of Bass Lake Road at about 8:30 p.m.
Damin Shufford, 29, of New Hope, and Adaiah Townsend, 20, of Crystal, each face charges of aiding and abetting second-degree murder and attempted aggravated robbery.
According to the criminal complaint, Shufford asked Townsend for a handgun because Shufford wanted to commit a robbery.
In the early morning of June 26, Shufford walked up a hill to the Crystal Towers apartment complex. When he returned, he told others in the car that he had to "slump" a guy sitting in his car in the parking lot because Walker tried to take the gun from Shufford, according to the complaint.
The two fled, but returned later. Townsend is accused of taking money from Walker's wallet.
