MINNEAPOLIS -- The Metropolitan Council could give final approval to the route for the Southwest Light Rail line as early as next week.
An advisory panel passed a proposal Wednesday for the line to run through two shallow tunnels in the Kenilworth section of Minneapolis.
Opponents who live near the proposed tunnels are raising concerns about safety and the impact on nearby pedestrian trials.
If the met council approves the route, it still needs the consent of the five cities along the corridor.
