COON RAPIDS, Minn. - A vulnerable adult reported missing from his group home has been located, and is on his way to a hospital to be checked out.
Police in Coon Rapids had been asking for the public's help in finding 52-year-old Joel Okerstrom, who walked away from a group home in Coon Rapids near Main Street and Foley Boulevard around 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 30.
A spokesman for the Coon Rapids Police Department says Okerstrom was found Thursday morning at Lake George County Park, about 10-miles from his group home. They believed he walked the entire way.
Aside from being cold and wet Okerstrom appears to be OK. As a precaution he is being taken to Mercy Hospital to be checked out.
Okerstrom has a brain injury and gets easily confused. He has a GPS chip implanted in him but police say the battery failed.
