MINNEAPOLIS -- Search crews have wrapped up their search for an swimmer who reportedly disappeared beneath the waters of Cedar Lake Thursday after finding nothing.
Minneapolis dispatch says someone called 9-1-1 around 7:30 a.m. and reported seeing a swimmer disappear under the water off Hidden Beach.
Divers from the Hennepin County Water Patrol spent more than 3 hours in the water while boats with sonar tried to locate objects the size of a body under water.
Major Jeff Storms says the witness who claims to have seen the swimmer go under disappeared from the scene. Storms added that the information they were working with was "loose" but said the Water Patrol has no choice in such situations but to take the report seriously and search using their normal protocol.
