MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- To cap off a week of inauguration events, the new president of the University of Minnesota got a nice look at himself Friday.
The university unveiled a new presidential portrait of Eric Kaler at the Coffman Union. Kaler, a Minnesota alumnus, met students and posed for photos.
Friday was also Kaler's 55th birthday. He was given a festive birthday version of his official photo, as well as a Minnesota themed cake and a Gopher jersey.
Kaler was inaugurated as the university's 16th president Thursday. He spent inauguration week touring the school and community, meeting with students and community leaders. Kaler will finish the week Saturday at the Gopher football team's game against North Dakota State University at TCF Bank Stadium.
Student ambassadors have been following Kaler all week and have been posting photos of the festivities on a special Twitter account: @PrezKaler.
