CENTERVILLE, Minn. - A grass fire just off Interstate 35E in Centerville burned its way close enough to a home that it triggers reports of forced evacuations early Thursday afternoon.

The fire could be seen on traffic cameras on I-35E between County Road J and Main Street near Lino Lakes.

Traffic was slowing in the area as drivers moved over for emergency responders and gawked at the flames moving through the dry grass.

Fire crews from Centerville, East Bethel and Hugo are currently on the scene trying to put down the flames.

A lack of moisture is contributing to tinder-dry conditions across the Twin Cities and the state of Minnesota. KARE 11 meteorologist Belinda Jensen says there has not been a significant moisture event since mid-August.
