MEDFORD, Minn. - Investigators for the Steele County Sheriff's Department are looking for a 44-year-old suspect involved in a shooting at the McDonald's in Medford Monday.
Deputies were dispatched to the restaurant, located on the west frontage road right off Interstate 35, just after 4:15 p.m. on reports of shots fired.
Before law enforcement could arrive, witnesses say the vehicle carrying the alleged gunman sped away from the McDonald's and sped south on the frontage road.
A second vehicle carrying an unspecified number of people who were targets of the gunman also fled the scene, ending up at a gas station in Medford where deputies found them. During questioning the victims told investigators the suspect, described as a known white male, approached the car with a gun pulled and opened fire.
On Tuesday morning a SWAT team made up of officers from the Steele County Sheriff's Department, Owatonna Police and the South Central Drug Investigation Unit arrested a female suspect wanted in connection with the shooting. A second person of interest, a known 44-year-old male named as the gunman, is being sought.
The sheriff describes the man as armed and dangerous.
