MINNEAPOLIS - A St. Paul man is charged with a felony for allegedly running over a young boy who was going to greet his soldier father at the Twin Cities airport.
The Hennepin County Attorney's office on Thursday charged 61-year-old Tommy Rodriguez with criminal vehicle operation, a felony, and third-degree DWI, a gross misdemeanor.
Rodriguez is accused of hitting 6-year-old Zachary Drew with his sport utility vehicle in the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport parking ramp on Dec. 16.
According to the complaint, blood-alcohol results indicate Rodriguez was at least 0.08 percent when the boy was struck while walking with his family.
The SUV dragged Zachary 15 feet before crashing into a wall. The boy suffered a broken leg and facial injuries.
A phone number for Rodriguez could not be found.
