St. Paul crowns 2012 King Boreas and Queen of the Snows

    • ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Paul crowned its royalty Friday night for the 2012 Winter Carnival.

    Ashleigh Hayes was crowned Queen of the Snows and Steve Cortinas of Eagan is this year's King Boreas.

    The pair will preside over the 126th Winter Carnival festivities.

    The winter carnival kicked off Thursday and will run through February 5.

    Folks are hard at work on ice carvings in Rice Park and preparing for the Grande Day Parade Saturday, January 28.
