SHAKOPEE, Minn. - The Highway 101 bridge at Flying Cloud Drive is open to traffic again after being closed in both directions due to a serious crash during Wednesday morning's rush hour.
Mn/DOT reported the crash on Twitter around 8:30 a.m. The State Patrol says multiple people were injured and airlifted after an SUV went off the road and crashed.
At least one witness told the State Patrol that the SUV lost its wheel.
Two adults and three children were in the vehicle. A woman and one child were airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center while an adult male and two other children were transported to St. Francis Hospital via ambulance.
State Patrol spokesman Eric Roeske says one of the victims was a child who was ejected from a vehicle and thrown onto the ice of a nearby pond. There are reports that the child may have also struck a tree.
