It's a pretty consuming endeavor, getting ready to go overseas for over three weeks. The daunting part has been trying to piece together the time to do all the legwork that needs to be done before departing.
Thank goodness for amazing help. I've been quick to praise John Drilling, my uber talented photog, but now, I have another fellow to be appreciative of. My intern Nick Lewis.
Yes, I have an intern. Scary thought. But Nick has been invaluable in doing some of the grunt work that has helped our coverage become more streamlined and efficient. Nick is a broadcasting student at the U of M, and an all around good guy. When I just asked him to comment on what he thinks of his internship just now, Nick replied, "Swell".
I actually met the guy on a Perk at Play shoot a few years back, when I served as his crew chief. Nick was a champion race car driver at Raceway Park in Shakopee. Now, the #37 car is no longer, but we're still on good terms, although, I don't know how long that will last when I break it to him that he can't go to London with me.
