ORTONVILLE, Minn. - Storms brought hail, strong winds and possibly tornadoes to parts of western Minnesota and eastern South Dakota late Sunday and early Monday.

KXLG radio reports that weather service officials will be determining whether straight-line winds or a tornado caused the damage around Big Stone City and Big Stone Lake and nearby Ortonville, Minn.

Hail as big as tennis balls fell throughout the region and there were reports of funnel clouds, including one that the weather service says might have touched down briefly near Peever.

In Traverse County near Wheaton, Minnesota sheriff's dispatchers say a tornado touched down just northeast of Wheaton. Fortunately, very little damage was reported from the Twister.

Thunderstorms, high winds and accompanying hail did damage a number of barns. A lightning strike struck another area barn, triggering a fire that destroyed a tractor.
