FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. - The ring at the Minnesota State Fair Coliseum is the stage for equestrians young and old and it has been for nearly 50 years. In that time one thing hasn't changed: Weezee.

Weezee runs the trophy presentations for every horse show at the fair.

Everyone there knows her by name, but much of what makes Weezee tick is a mystery.

She never says where she's from and won't even dare tell you where she's been. And ask the girl her age? Forget about it.

"That's a good question. Nobody knows how old Weezee is," long time friend Ray Sperl said.

"We don't have an age. Weezee is ageless. She's part vampire," Weezee said when asked outright.

Timeless may be a little more accurate because Weezee is never absent from duty for the run of the fair. Nor is she ever short on spunk, but she is lacking in something.

Weezee can't see, much of anything.

"It's unbelievable what she can do being legally blind," Sperl said.

Weezee draws and paints the likeness of every horse in the show. She draws them so well one would assume her vision is 20-20, but in reality, she can only see about a 10 percent field of vision.

"Well, we all have inner vision, and inner vision is beautiful you can see so many things," Weezee said.

She never falters on in that ring presenting to the young riders. She never misses a beat. That's what 80-some odd years will get you. Maybe even 90, she could also be 70, she will never tell.
