CHICAGO - Chicago students are preparing to return to classes after the teachers agreed to end their first walkout in 25 years.

School is set to resume Wednesday morning after the Chicago Teachers Union voted overwhelmingly to end the strike that has idled more than 350,000 students and disrupted the daily routines of thousands of families. Union leaders say the contract isn't perfect but they were able to win enough concessions to put it to a full membership vote.

Wilonda Cannon says she hopes the agreement is a step in the right direction for improving schools. She's a single mother whose two youngest children spent the last seven school days with their grandfather.

Teachers walked off the job Sept. 10 over issues that included evaluations and job security.
