SIREN, Wis. - The Burnett County District Attorney's Office says they have filed charges against the parents of the 3-year-old girl who accidentally drowned in Danbury, Wisconsin.
Jenna Danish and Thomas Williams have been charged with felony child neglect resulting in the death of Reena Mae Williams, according to Wisconsin court records.
Her body was found in a canal in August, hours after a neighbor say spotted by a neighbor prior to her going missing walking in the street barefoot. The neighbor said that it was not the first time the girl had been seen wandering in the neighborhood.
A judge still needs to approve the arrest warrants for both Danish and Williams, according to the Burnett County Sheriff Dean Roland. He says the only judge in the county is busy with something else. Authorities may have to drive 60 miles to find another judge, something Roland says could be too late.
"They have no idea if (Danish and Williams) are still (in the area)," he said.
Danish and Williams each face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
