HASTINGS, Minn. - The Monday afternoon rush hour should be a bit easier for commuters in the east metro after MnDOT reopened the Hastings Bridge a full 18 hours early.
The bridge, also known as the Highway 61 bridge, was closed over the weekend while crews floated in the main span of the replacement bridge on barges.
Along with vehicle traffic, river, bicycle and pedestrian traffic will also re-open between Lock and Dam No. 2 and the CP Railroad Bridge.
Motorists and residents with questions are encouraged to call the Hastings Bridge Project Hotline at 651-775-5244, or visit the project's web site.
