20 injured in train derailment

Hanford, Calif. - At least 20 people are hurt after a big rig truck collides with an Amtrak train in central California.

The Amtrak 7-12 was en route from Oakland to Bakersfield when it was struck by the truck and derailed.

169 passengers and four crew members were aboard the train. The injuries were described as ranging from bumps and bruises to broken bones. Six people were taken to the hospital.

Other passengers were transported to an auditorium where they can can board another train or wait to be picked up by family.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
