NEW YORK - It's a number that stabs at the heart of NHL hockey fans - 326 games cancelled, and counting.
The National Hockey League announced Friday that all regular season games scheduled through November 30 have been scratched due to the ongoing negotiations between the league and its players union over a new labor agreement.
Players were locked out after the old Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the NHL Players' Association and the NHL expired.
Friday's announcement means a minimum of 326 regular-season games, more than 26 percent of the season, has been scrapped. The 2012-2013 season was scheduled to begin October 11.
