EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The bags are packed, the Vikings are ready to go and it's a whole lot of work to get an entire team ready for a game against a border rival.
At Winter Park it takes a three man crew all week to get all of the shoes, shoulder pads and other gear ready and leading the charge is a 30 plus year veteran.
"Here's the Lambeau list," said Dennis Ryan as he looked over an entire page of line items.
The list is twice what it would normally be for a game. Packing for an entire team is a lot like packing for your family, especially if you have children, because with kids you need to be prepared for anything. If it starts to rain or if it happens to rain or snow you have to have be "on the ready." All of the gear is tagged and numbered so the crew knows just who has what and where.
It's also up to Ryan and his guys to make sure the players packed their own bags with everything they need. If a player didn't, it's up to them to find it and pack it. For the trip to Lambeau field it takes days to get everything just so.
"Kind of a daunting task, we're loading on an incline and everything happens to be on wheels," explained Ryan. "So it does make it difficult when we're packing a little tighter, there's more going on the truck and we got to make sure we use every square inch."
As for what happens when they forget a bag, Ryan says it doesn't happen.
However, the team flies out Friday night and if anything more is needed they'll have plenty of time to get it before Saturday's 7:00pm kickoff.
