Youngstown, OH (Sports Network) - Jason Calliste erupted for 27 points as the
Detroit Titans captured a 101-60 victory over the Youngstown State Penguins in
a Horizon League matchup at the Beeghly Center.
Calliste hit 10-of-14 from the floor while also dishing out a game-high seven
assists for Detroit (11-5, 3-0 HL). Ray McCallum added 19
points and Evan Bruinsma netted 17 points off the bench as the Titans cracked
the century mark for the second time this season.
DJ Cole led the way with 16 points off the bench for YSU (9-7, 1-2) while
Damian Eargle was the lone starter in double figures with 14 points.
Youngstown led 14-13 midway through the first half before the Titans took
control with a 19-0 run. The visitors held the Penguins to just 30.4 percent
from the field in the first half and led 45-24 at intermission.
Detroit continued its scoring barrage in the second half as it converted 59
percent from the field while hitting 6-of-11 from 3-point range, en route
to the lopsided victory.
With the win the Titans have now won five games in a row and nine of their
last 10 and improve to 25-8 all-time against YSU.
