Bowling Green, OH (Sports Network) - Jordan Crawford scored 11 points,
including the game-winning 3-pointer with six seconds remaining to lift the
Bowling Green Falcons over Eastern Michigan Eagles, 46-44, in Mid-American
Conference play at the Stroh Center.
A'uston Calhoun led the Falcons (6-9, 1-1 MAC) with 17 points.
For the Eagles (7-9, 0-2), Derek Thompson scored 11 points while Jamell Harris
pulled down 11 rebounds and Da'Shonte Riley grabbed 10 rebounds.
Both teams struggled from the field in the first half. EMU shot just 31.3
percent, but made 2-of-4 3-point tries. BGSU shot 32.1 percent from the field
and only made one of its nine 3-point attempts, as the Eagles took a 25-20
lead into the break.
In the second half, the Eagles managed just 25 percent from the field and
2-of-4 from 3-point range. The Falcons were somewhat better, hitting on 37.5
percent of their field goal tries and 4-of-13 from beyond the 3-point arc.
The teams traded leads in the second half. EMU lead by three, 44-41, with
2:32 to play but would not score again in the contest. BGSU scored the final
five points of the game, including Crawford's game-winner. Thompson's deep
3-point try as time expired fell short of the rim.
The Falcons had a 39-34 rebounding advantage. The Eagles had a slight edge on
points in the paint, 16-14.
