Elon, NC (Sports Network) - Lucas Troutman scored 18 points as the Elon
Phoenix posted a 73-59 win over the Furman Paladins in Southern Conference
play at Alumni Gym.
Also scoring in double figures for Elon (10-7, 3-2 SoCon) was Josh Bonney with
15 points and Ryley Beaumont with 10, the latter making up for just 4-of-12
shooting from the floor by pulling down nine rebounds as the Phoenix won for
the second time in as many outings.
The Paladins (4-12, 1-4) were paced by Bobby Austin who dropped in a game-high
19 points, followed by Colin Reddick with 18 as the unit lost for the seventh
time in eight games.
Elon led almost the entire way, shooting 46.7 percent from the floor in the
first half and a near-perfect 12-of-13 at the free-throw line in order to
record a 42-27 advantage at the break.
In the second half Furman kept pace by limiting the hosts to just 3-of-13
shooting beyond the arc, but the Paladins had already dug themselves a deep
hole over the first 20 minutes of action from which they could not recover.
In addition to coming up with only five offensive rebounds on the night,
Furman didn't help itself any with 15 turnovers.
