Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Cody Ellis scored 16 points for the Saint
Louis Billikens who defeated the Duquesne Dukes, 73-64 in an Atlantic 10
Conference matchup at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
Ellis was 11-of-12 from the free-throw line for Saint Louis (13-5, 2-2 A10),
which ended its two-game losing slump. Dwayne Evans (14 points, six rebounds),
Kwamain Mitchell (11 points, six assists), Jordair Jett (10 points) all added
double-figure scoring performances while Grandy Glaze led the team in
rebounding with 11 boards.
Jerry Jones led all scorers while recording a double-double with 18 points and
11 rebounds for the Dukes (7-12, 0-5), who have lost eight of their last nine
games. Derrick Colter added 13 points and four assists.
Saint Louis took a 31-30 lead into the break, despite shooting 33.3 percent
from the field and 1-of-13 from 3-point range, due to shooting 10-12 from the
free-throw line.
In the second half the Billikens outscored Duquesne 42-34 while getting 27
attempts at the free-throw line compared to only six for the Dukes.
Saint Louis was 28-39 from the charity stripe throughout the game while
Duquesne was 9-of-19.
