Cedar Falls, IA (Sports Network) - Marc Sonnen scored 15 points to lead the
Northern Iowa Panthers to a 58-45 victory over the Southern Illinois Salukis
in Missouri Valley Conference action at the McLeod Center.
Anthony James added 14 points and Seth Tuttle brought down 10 rebounds and was
a point shy of a double-double for Northern Iowa (11-9, 4-4 MVC). The Panthers
have won three of their last four.
Dantiel Daniels scored 11 points as the only player in double figures for
Southern Illinois (8-11, 1-7) which has lost eight of its last nine.
Northern Iowa led 28-22 at the break by shooting 44 percent from the field
including a 5-of-9 effort from beyond the arc. Southern Illinois shot at a
43.5 percent clip but missed both of its shots from beyond the arc.
In the second half the Panthers heated up to 56.3 percent shooting and the
Salukis shot 43.5 percent yet again as Northern Iowa coasted to the win.
Northern Iowa had a 29-22 edge in rebounds and outscored Southern Illinois
24-6 from 3-point range.
