Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Allen Crabbe scored 23 points as the
California Golden Bears held off the Utah Utes, 62-57, in a Pac-12 Conference
tilt at the Huntsman Center.
Crabbe shot 8-of-15 from the field, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range, as
Cal (11-7, 3-3 Pac-12) won for the second time in its last three games. Tyrone
Wallace shot just 4-of-15 for 12 points, but he made up for it by dishing out
eight assists.
Jason Washburn had 14 points to pace Utah (9-10, 1-6), while Jordan Loveridge
added 12 points and nine rebounds. Glen Dean and Brandon Taylor netted 10
points apiece for the Utes, who have lost six of seven.
Utah outshot Cal from the field in the first half, 50 percent to 48.1 percent,
but the Bears took a 32-22 lead into intermission by attempting nine more
field goals than the Utes.
The Bears led by as many as 15 in the second half. A Washburn 3-pointer cut
Utah's deficit to just three, 58-55, with under a minute remaining, but Cal
iced the contest by shooting 4-of-4 from the foul line in the final 17
seconds.
Utah was plagued by 17 turnovers, which Cal turned into 17 points.
