St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Rob Loe scored a game-high 17 points to help
the Saint Louis Billikens complete an 81-52 rout of the Dayton Flyers in an
Atlantic 10 Conference tilt at Chaifetz Arena.
Dwayne Evans added 15 points and seven rebounds for the Billikens (16-5, 5-2
A-10), who were coming off of a 75-58 upset of No. 9 Butler. Kwamain Mitchell
chipped in 12 points while Jordair Jett tallied 11 points and six assists in
the fourth-straight victory for Saint Louis.
Josh Benson paced Dayton (12-9, 2-5) with 12 points and six rebounds. Vee
Sanford scored 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting, but also committed six of the
Flyers' 21 turnovers in the team's fifth loss in seven games.
The game was closely contested in the early stages, but SLU used a 13-0 run to
jump out to a 27-11 advantage with 8:42 remaining before the intermission. The
Billikens knocked down 50 percent of their field goal attempts and limited
Dayton to 34.5 percent shooting from the floor on their way to a 39-23
halftime lead.
The Flyers improved after the break to connect on 52.2 percent of their field
goal tries, but SLU extended its lead by converting 52 percent of its attempts
from the field including 5-of-10 from 3-point range while sinking 11-of-13 at
the free throw line over the final 20 minutes.
The Billikens assisted 18 of their 29 makes from the floor and tallied 30
points off of turnovers en route to the double-digit decision.
