Charlottesville, VA (Sports Network) - Joe Harris scored 21 points for the
Virginia Cavaliers as they made claim to a dominating 78-41 win over the
Clemson Tigers in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup at John Paul Jones
Arena.
Harris shot 7-of-10 from the field for the Cavaliers (16-6, 6-3 ACC), who
earned their fifth win the last six games. Akil Mitchell had 16 points, six
rebounds, and four steals, while Justin Anderson added 14 points and three
steals. Jontel Evans dished out a game-high eight assists.
Clemson (12-10, 4-6) had just one player score in double-figures in K.J.
McDaniels, who netted 10 points. Devin Booker grabbed a team-high nine
rebounds in the setback.
Virginia blew the Tigers out in the first half, outscoring them 38-10 while
shooting 51.9 percent from the field. Clemson was only 5-of-25 from the floor
in the opening 20 minutes.
In the second half, the Cavaliers shot 59.3 percent from the field and their
lead was never in question.
Clemson was just 1-of-17 from long range, while Virginia made 10-of-24 from 3-
point territory.
