Chattanooga, TN (Sports Network) - Gee McGhee finished with 22 points to lead
the Chattanooga Mocs to an 89-76 victory over The Citadel Bulldogs in a
Southern Conference tussle at McKenzie Arena.
For the Mocs (9-14, 4-6 SoCon), Ronrico White added 19 points, Drazen Zlovaric
finished with 18 points, Z. Mason scored 14 points, and Martynas Bareika
chipped in with 12 points.
P.J. Horgan finished with a game-high 25 points and pulled down 10 rebounds
for the Bulldogs (6-16, 3-9). Mike Groselle added 19 points.
Chattanooga shot very well to open the game, connecting on 51.4 percent of
their field goal tries to take a 44-37 lead into the break. The Citadel
was hot to start as well, making 56.5 percent of their shots from the field,
but committed 11 turnovers in the half.
In the second half, both teams continued to knock down shots. The Mocs hit on
53.3 percent from the field, while the Bulldogs shot 50 percent. After the
Bulldogs drained a 3-point shot with the first basket of the half to cut the
Mocs' lead to six, Chattanooga responded with six straight points to build a
double-digit lead. The Bulldogs would never get closer than eight the rest of
the way, as the Mocs cruised to victory.
The teams both pulled down 28 rebounds. The Bulldogs turned the ball over 16
times to just 8 turnovers for the Mocs.
