Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Michael Harthun paced six teammates in double
figures with 19 points as the Portland State Vikings made easy work of the
Southern Utah Thunderbirds, 90-69, in Big Sky Conference action at the Stott
Center.
Renado Parker tallied 16 points and eight rebounds for Portland State (6-16,
4-11 Big Sky), and Michael Harvey netted 13 points off the bench. Aaron Moore
scored 12 points, while Lateef McMullan and Gary Winston scored 11 points
apiece for the Vikings, who snapped a season-long eight-game losing streak.
Jackson Stevenett scored 26 points for SUU (10-14, 8-7), while Damon Heuir
tallied 14 points and six assists. The Thunderbirds have lost back-to-back
games on the heels of a five-game winning streak.
Portland State opened up a 40-34 halftime advantage by shooting just shy of 47
percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
The Vikings' field goal efficiency shot up to 59.1 percent after intermission
as they cruised to the 21-point victory.
Portland State was also spectacular from the foul line, draining 31-of-35 from
the stripe.
