Tuscaloosa, AL (Sports Network) - Trevor Lacey paced all scorers with 17
points as the Alabama Crimson Tide dismissed the South Carolina Gamecocks,
68-58, in SEC action at Coleman Coliseum.
Rodney Cooper and Nick Jacobs each poured in 10 points for Alabama (17-8, 9-3
SEC), which has won three straight and nine of its last 11.
For South Carolina (12-13, 2-10), Brenton Williams tallied 14 points and four
steals, Bruce Ellington and Laimonas Chatkevicius scored 11 points apiece, and
Eric Smith netted 10 points. With the setback, the Gamecocks extended their
season-long losing streak to six games.
Alabama shot 48 percent from the field in the first half, including 6-of-14
from 3-point range, as it held a 35-24 advantage heading into intermission.
South Carolina shot a respectable 40 percent from the floor in the opening 20
minutes but was only 1-of-9 from beyond the arc.
The Tide's field goal efficiency slipped to 45.5 percent after halftime but
their advantage was never in jeopardy, as they lead by double-digits
throughout the second half.
Alabama outscored South Carolina from the foul line, 18-7.
