Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Mike Groselle matched a season high with 24
points to go along with 10 rebounds and six steals to lead The Citadel
Bulldogs to a 68-57 victory over the Furman Paladins in Southern Conference
action at McAlister Fieldhouse.
P.J. Horgan and Dylen Setzekorn each added 11 points off the bench for The
Citadel (8-20, 5-12 SoCon) while Marshall Harris III and Raemond Robinson
dished out nine and eight assists, respectively.
Larry Wideman paced Furman (6-22, 3-14) with 17 points while Colin Reddick
registered his fifth career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Bryan Irwin chipped in 12 points as the Paladins dropped their ninth
consecutive game.
Despite outrebounding The Citadel 17-8 in the opening period, Furman trailed
30-22 at halftime after shooting just 27.3 percent from the floor while
forcing just two Bulldogs' turnovers.
Furman trailed for the duration of the second half but made things interesting
with a 6-0 run midway through the period to cut the deficit to 48-46, however
the Bulldogs responded with a 16-6 run to regain control.
Irwin, Bobby Austin and Kendrec Ferrara all played 40 minutes for Furman,
while Wideman and Reddick each tallied 39 minutes. The Citadel reserves
outscored their counterparts, 28-0.
