Ypsilanti, MI (Sports Network) - Dominique Buckley scored 21 points and dished
out five assists to lead the Toledo Rockets to a 78-67 win over the Eastern
Michigan Eagles in a Mid-American Conference bout at the Convocation Center.
Julius Brown added his second-career double-double with 19 points and 12
assists for Toledo (15-13, 10-6 MAC), which finished second in the MAC West
Division and clinched the fourth seed in the upcoming MAC tournament with the
win. Rian Pearson and Matt Smith added 18 and 12 points, respectively.
Derek Thompson paced Eastern Michigan (14-17, 7-9) with 25 points and shot 5-
of-10 from behind the arc. Glenn Bryant had 15 points and eight rebounds off
the bench while J.R. Sims notched 13 points.
Eastern Michigan led 18-6 early on but allowed Toledo to battle back and tie
the score at 26-26 late in the first half. The Eagles shot 52.2 percent as a
team and 7-of-7 from the free throw line to lead 35-31 at halftime.
Toledo opened the second half on a 25-6 run and never looked back. The Rockets
shot 53.4 percent from the field in the period while holding the Eagles to
33.3 percent.
The Rockets outscored EMU in the paint, 26-14.
