Albany, NY (Sports Network) - Ryan Cook led all scorers with 24 points, and
the sixth-seeded UMBC Retrievers upended the No. 3 seed Hartford Hawks in
quarterfinal-round action of the America East Tournament at SEFCU Arena.
Brian Neller drained 6-of-12 3-pointers and finished with 20 points for the
Retrievers (8-22), who will face No. 2 seed Vermont in Sunday's semifinal
round.
Nate Sikma had 17 points and Mark Nwakamma scored 13 for the Hawks (17-13),
who shot just 39.2 percent for the game.
After making only 9-of-25 field goals (.360) in the first half, the Retrievers
shot 15-of-19 (.789) from the floor in the second half to pull away in a game
that featured seven ties and nine lead changes. UMBC made 9-of-17 threes
(.529) for the contest.
