St. Bonaventure, NY (Sports Network) - Chris Gaston recorded 22 points and
nine rebounds off the bench as the Fordham Rams held on to defeat the St.
Bonaventure Bonnies, 76-72, in the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season
finale for both squads at the Reilly Center.
Mandell Thomas also scored 22 points for the Rams (7-24, 3-13 A10). Branden
Frazier added 16 points, five boards and five assists in a reserve role, as
Fordham snapped a 10-game losing streak.
For the Bonnies (14-15, 7-9), Demitrius Conger contributed 17 points, six
rebounds and four assists. Youssou Ndoye and Eric Mosley also chipped in 17
points apiece, as St. Bonaventure lost its second consecutive game.
In the first half, St. Bonaventure was busy from the free-throw line, shooting
11-of-15. Fordham was held to 4-of-12 beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes
as the Bonnies took a 41-35 advantage at the break.
Fordham started out the second half on a 7-0 run and knocked down 17-of-29
from the floor in the stanza. The Rams took the lead for good following a
Frazier jumper with 5:17 left in the game.
Fordham controlled the boards, 35-24, and points in the paint, 42-28.
