Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Devon Moore sank a pair of free throws in the
closing seconds to lift the third-seeded James Madison Dukes to a thrilling,
58-57, win over the second-seeded Delaware Blue Hens in the semifinal round of
the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament at the Richmond Coliseum.
Moore finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists for JMU (19-14),
which will take on regular season champion Northeastern Huskies for a trip to
the NCAA Tournament on Monday. A.J. Davis scored a game-high 16 points and
registered four steals while Andre Nation tallied 12 points to go along with
Jamelle Hagins led Delaware (19-14) with a double-double of 12 points and 12
rebounds. Hagins also blocked four shots and Kyle Anderson added 11 points.
After a closely contested first half, JMU took a 29-25 lead into the
intermission. The Dukes shot 37 percent from the floor and converted 7-of-10
attempts at the charity stripe while limiting Delaware to 26.9 percent
efficiency from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
The Blue Hens heated up to connect on 43.3 percent of their field goal
attempts in the second stanza. Delaware used a 10-0 run to take a 51-46 lead
and held a 57-51 advantage with 2:54 left to play. The Dukes closed out the
game with seven unanswered points to steal the game as Nation drained a triple
and Davis made two free throws before Moore's game-winning trip to the charity
