Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Dejan Kravic's tip-in as time expired
lifted the Texas Tech Red Raiders over the West Virginia Mountaineers, 71-69,
in the first round of the Big 12 Conference Tournament at the Sprint Center.
Jaye Crockett scored a game-high 18 points for the Red Raiders (11-19). Ty
Nurse and Jordan Tolbert chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively. Josh Gray
and Kravic added 10 points apiece. Texas Tech will go on to face top-seeded
Kansas in the next round.
For the Mountaineers (13-19), Terry Henderson scored a team-high 12 points.
Aaric Murray was two-rebounds shy of a double-double with 11 points and Deniz
Kilicli put up 10. This was the first experience for WVU in the Big 12
Tournament since joining the league prior to this season.
In the first half, both teams made eight from the foul-line. WVU made 11-of-22
field goal attempts including 2-of-5 from long-range. Texas Tech shot 12-of-27
from the floor including 5-of-7 beyond the arc, en route to the 37-32
advantage at the break.
In the second, WVU tied the game up at 69-69 with 20 seconds remaining, thanks
to a made free-throw by Deniz Kilicli. Dejan Kravic tipped-in the ball as time
expired.
Texas Tech knocked down a 25-of-49 from the floor including a solid 8-of-12
beyond the arc on the evening.
