MINNEAPOLIS - The NCAA women's hockey tournament starts this weekend, and there's no confusion about who the favorite is: Minnesota.
Not only are the Golden Gophers the defending champions, they haven't lost yet, stretching their record winning streak to 46 games in a row, including 38 this season. Minnesota hosts North Dakota in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Then if the Gophers advance, they get to play the Frozen Four on their home ice as well.
Senior goaltender Noora Raty has been the standout among many stars on this team. The native of Finland has recorded a shutout in five straight games, and the Gophers haven't given up a goal since Feb. 16.
They've trailed in only four games this season, for a total of 47 minutes and 56 seconds.
