MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota junior forward Amanda Kessel was awarded the 2013 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, becoming the second Golden Gopher to receive the honor.
Kessel leads the nation with 97 points, 44 goals and 53 assists to go along with her 5 short-handed goals. Kessel became the 24th player in NCAA History to reach 200 career points this season and joins Krissy Wendell as the only other University of Minnesota player to receive the award.
Senior defenseman Megan Bozek and senior goaltender Noora Raty were finalists for the award as well. This is the first time that all three finalists were from the same university.
