Ogden, UT (Sports Network) - Kyle Tresnak and Scott Bamforth both tallied 21
points as the Weber State Wildcats ran away with a 78-57 win over the Air
Force Falcons in the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at the
Dee Events Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Wildcats (28-6) was Gelaun Wheelwright
who dropped in 10 points off the bench.
The Falcons (18-14) were paced by Taylor Broekhuis with 16 points on 8-of-10
shooting from the floor, while Justin Hammonds pitched in with 12 points off
the bench and Todd Fletcher 10 in the losing cause.
Weber State scored the first points of the night and never looked back.
Although both squads shot better than 54 percent from the floor in the first
half, the Wildcats were the ones with the 38-32 advantage at the break.
In the second half WSU continued to shoot the ball well from the field at a
53.6 percent clip, but the Academy dropped all the way down to just 25.8
percent, which included a dismal 2-of-12 beyond the arc, en route to the 21-
Defensively, the Wildcats held the visitors to only 38.2 percent from the
field and that was a key effort considering Weber State managed to come up
with a mere three offensive rebounds.
Weber State now heads to the quarterfinals of this tournament with an opponent
and date to be determined.
