New York, NY (Sports Network) - The Miami Heat's Erik Spoelstra and George Karl of the Denver Nuggets have been named the NBA's Eastern and Western Conference Coaches of the Month, respectively, for March.

Spoelstra garnered the award after guiding the Heat to a league-best 17-1 record, the only loss coming last Wednesday in Chicago when the Bulls ended the club's 27-game winning streak -- the second longest in NBA history.

Karl's Nuggets went 13-2 during the period, including 12 straight to begin the month. Their 15-game winning streak ended last Monday against the New Orleans Hornets.

Other nominees for the award included Dallas' Rick Carlisle, Indiana's Frank Vogel, Memphis' Lionel Hollins and New York's Mike Woodson.
