San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - In need of some seasoned depth for their upcoming playoff run, the San Antonio Spurs signed veteran Tracy McGrady for the remainder of the season on Tuesday.

The two-time NBA scoring champion had spent the entire 2012-13 campaign playing in the Chinese Basketball Association, where he averaged 25.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists for the Qingdao Eagles.

McGrady last appeared in the NBA during the 2011-12 season, averaging 5.3 points and 3.0 rebounds over 52 outings with the Atlanta Hawks.

The 33-year-old owns 982 games of NBA experience -- including 44 playoff tilts -- over 15 seasons and has averaged 19.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons and Hawks.

McGrady joins a San Antonio squad that will be seeded second for the Western Conference playoffs, but recently lost key reserve Boris Diaw for at least three weeks after undergoing back surgery and surprisingly waived veteran forward Stephen Jackson on Friday.
