EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - The Vikings will hold their rookie mini-camp this weekend, but the off-season workouts are already in full swing.
On Tuesday, the media was invited to Winter Park to watch the work that's already being put in.
"It's good to be back and be with all the guys," said Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder. "Everyone has shown up and worked hard last week with the conditioning we started. I mean, we jumped in right away."
To watch the condition program is not nearly as exciting as watching the games themselves, but it is very clear why these athletes are among the best in the world.
As for the team, it's a great opportunity to come in and erase the memories of last season's playoff game. Count Ponder among the players who are looking forward.
"Everyone has progressed great and I think there's no comparison between this year and last year," Ponder said.
Last week's draft along with three first round picks, got Vikings fans amped up. This weekend those rookies and a handful of other players with get the chance to impress coaches. It's the first step in the coach's process of determining who is going to make the team.
The rookie mini-camp starts on Friday. The state of training camp in Mankato is three months away.
