DETROIT - Something has to change.
With the Twins reeling in the midst of a losing streak that has now reached eight games, that something appears to be the club's woeful starting pitching staff.
Opening day starter Vance Worley is headed to the Twins Triple-A affiliate in Rochester after giving up 8 runs and 10 hits in just 4 innings in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to Atlanta. Worley's demotion follows that of lefthander Pedro Hernandez after a subpar outing of his own.
Righthander Samuel Deduno, the star of the 2013 World Baseball Classic, will start Friday against Detroit after being recalled from Rochester. The team is expected to recall a second pitcher to fill Worley's spot; The most likely candidate is righthander Kyle Gibson, who is tearing up AAA after returning from Tommy John elbow surgery.
