Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Freddy Galvis went 3-for-3 and finished a
triple shy of the cycle, Cliff Lee tossed eight solid innings and the
Philadelphia Phillies beat the San Diego Padres, 4-2, in the second test of a
Galvis ended with two RBI and two runs scored for the Phillies, who bounced
back from an 8-2 loss in the series opener on Tuesday. Jimmy Rollins added a
Lee (13-6) allowed two runs on five hits while striking out nine for
Philadelphia, which has won four of five. The left-hander picked up his third
Tommy Medica hit his first career homer for the Padres, who had a four-game
winning streak snapped. Jedd Gyorko added a solo homer.
Eric Stults got the start for San Diego and gave up two runs on six hits while
striking out five over six innings. Nick Vincent (4-3) took the loss after
allowing one run on one hit while walking two in the seventh inning.
