DETROIT - Call it the curse of the Motor City Kitties.
The bad-luck Detroit Lions received unwanted news this morning with word that current Lion and former Vikings wide receiver Nate Burleson broke his arm badly in an early morning car crash and will require surgery.
Detroit Free Press football beat writer Dave Birkett reported the news on Twitter, adding that no alcohol was involved in the single-car accident, and that Burleson was having surgery today.
The loss of Burleson is a big blow to the Lions' offense. He has 23 catches for 239 yards this season. Against Washington last weekend he caught six passes for 116 yards, making it the biggest day of his career.
The Lions face Chicago at home on Sunday.
