Denton, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Alzee Williams had 18 points on 8-of-12
shooting as the North Texas Mean Green defeated the UAB Blazers 76-65 in a
Conference USA matchup at The Super Pit.
Jordan Williams added 16 points for the Mean Green (11-8, 2-3 C-USA), as T.J.
Taylor had 13 points and Colin Voss chipped in 10.
Chad Frazier paced the Blazers (12-6, 1-3) with 20 points. Robert Williams
tallied 14 points while Fahro Alihodzic had 12. Rod Tucker cleared 11 boards.
North Texas started off well and made 55.2 percent of its shots from the
floor, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc, in the first frame, as it took a
44-38 lead into the half. UAB converted on 44.1 percent of its field goal
attempts in the period.
The Mean Green shot 43.3 percent from the field in the second half as they
were able to hold on for the victory. The Blazers shot a miserable 18.4
percent on field goal tries in the half.
Despite losing the Blazers dominated the glass and held a 53-39 rebounding
advantage, including 27 offensive boards.
