VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. -- The Minnesota Valkyrie held their first open tryouts at the Vadnais Heights Sports Center this past weekend.
It was the first look at Minnesota's newest sports team, the Valkyrie, which is the newest franchise to join the Lingerie Football League.
Roughly 80 participants showed up Saturday night to the open tryout as team officials look to select 35 women to invite to the team's mini-camp later in April.
Of those 35 members, only 25 will advance to the team's training camp in June.
The Minnesota Valkyrie joins four other expansion markets being announced in 2011.
The team will compete in the league's Western Conference against teams from Seattle, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Green Bay and Chicago.
The team plays two games at the Target Center starting October 14th and November 19th.
