Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Derrick Thomas scored 20 points to lead
the Drexel Dragons to a 71-53 win over the Northeastern Huskies in Colonial
Athletic Association action at the Daskalakis Center.
Thomas was 5-of-5 from long range. Samme Givens scored 19 points for the
Dragons (14-5, 6-2 CAA) who have won six straight and 12 of 13. Damian Lee
added 17 points and Frantz Massenat 11 points to go along with seven rebounds.
Massenat and Givens each had five assists.
Jonathan Lee's 16 points led Northeastern (9-9, 5-3), which saw a four-game
winning streak end. Quincy Ford finished with 10 points, all at the free-throw
line.
Drexel led 33-25 at halftime after shooting 11-of-19 from the floor. The
Dragons led by as many as 18 in the first frame.
The hosts stayed hot after halftime, shooting 10-of-16 from the floor over the
final 20 minutes.
Drexel shot 60 percent from the floor for the game. Northeastern shot just
38.6 percent from the floor. The Dragons, who made good on 9-of-14 shots
behind the three-point line, are now 8-0 on their home court.
