Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Brandon Sebirumbi was a rebound short
of a double-double in leading Furman to a 69-63 triumph over the College
of Charleston in Southern Conference play from TD Bank Arena.
Sebirumbi had 15 points and nine rebounds for Furman (10-10, 4-5 SoCon).
Bryant Irwin netted 14 off the bench and Charlie Reddick scored 12 points as
well for the Paladins.
Andrew Lawrence scored 15 points and dished out six assists to lead the
College of Charleston (12-8, 4-5). Antwaine Wiggins chipped in 12 and Trent
Wiedeman had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Cougars.
Furman led 31-25 at the half by shooting 41.9 percent from the floor
and limiting Charleston to just 33.3 percent from the floor including
2-of-10 from three point range.
In the second half Furman shot 46.2 percent from the floor and hit three
shots from beyond the arc to hang on for the 69-63 victory. Charleston
continued to struggle on offense especially from three point range making
36.1 percent of its field goal attempts and going just 2-of-13 from the
three point line
Furman had the advantage on the boards outrebounding Charleston 40-38.
Furman got a larger contribution from its alternates with the Paladin bench
outscoring its counterpart 32-13.
